he European Union has decided to push Russia out of Central Asia and Transcaucasia and is not even trying to hide it, said Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in an interview on Russian TV.
Lavrov said that Russia had been historically tied with these territories and had no intention of disappearing from them. “Our partners and allies know this very well.”
Because Moscow considers the EU countries puppet states of the USA, it is wondering whether the US too wants Russia out of the region. Actually, the reality is quite the opposite. Today, Russia still exists in its current shape solely at the mercy of the US. For example, Washington limits the support of Ukraine so Russia would not lose the war and plunge into chaos.
For a similar reason the same USA supports, if not leads and legitimizes Russia’s plans of Turkish occupation of Artsakh and dissolving the statehood of Armenia (Kim-Menendez). They are probably afraid in Washington (just like Mr Kurginyan is) that leaving the Caucasus without eliminating Armenia first may result in disintegration of Russia itself.
